GPS Smart Lock for Containers: See Who Opened the Cargo on the Way

A GPS smart lock tells you who opened the container, when and where. On ENTEK.AI, each lock reports locked, unlocked, tampered or offline. Every remote unlock is logged with the user who sent it, trips have geofenced stops with arrival and departure times, and alerts reach your team by email, SMS or WhatsApp.

The problem: cargo opened between stops

When cargo goes missing between stops, the cause is hard to trace. The driver says the container stayed closed, the customer reports a short load, and nobody can show when the door was opened or where the truck was at that moment.

Smart Lock answers three questions with records instead of opinions: was the container opened, who opened it, and where was the truck when it happened. If the lock is forced, you see a tamper event and an alert, not a name.

What is a GPS smart container lock?

A GPS smart container lock is an electronic lock on the container, trailer or tanker that reports its status and position to a monitoring platform. Buyers also search for it as a GPS smart padlock, a smart container lock or an electronic cargo seal. A physical seal or a driver's word is not proof of what happened on the road. Smart Lock is a solution on the ENTEK.AI IoT platform: it shows each lock as locked, unlocked, tampered or offline, follows the vehicle through a planned trip with geofenced stops, asks for a live-camera photo at the stop, and keeps a history of every remote command with who ran it and when. When several states are true at once, tampered wins over unlocked, unlocked over locked, and locked over offline, so a problem is not hidden behind a calmer status. An asset that has never reported shows as unknown, not as safe.

How to set it up

Setting up Smart Lock takes five steps.

  1. Buy the locks. Request quotes for lock hardware and installation from verified suppliers through one RFQ on ENTEK.AI. The monitoring is the Smart Lock solution on the ENTEK.AI IoT platform.
  2. Connect each lock. Add each lock with its name, IMEI and device type, then link it to the truck, trailer or container it protects. A master lock can carry slave locks over BLE, each with its own battery and last-seen time.
  3. Draw your locations and plan trips. Save depots and customer sites with a drawn zone on the map, then plan trips with ordered stops and decide whether the driver may unlock. A stop zone is never smaller than 10 metres, and a location with no drawn zone uses a 120-metre circle.
  4. Set alert rules. For each lock, choose the rules and who receives them by email, SMS or WhatsApp. Settings also hold per-device thresholds for low battery and for a lock left open too long.
  5. Review and report. Filter events for unlocks, tamper and unauthorized attempts, check the trip audit log and stop photos, and export driver, compliance, device health or access control reports as PDF, Excel or CSV.

What you get

All four come from the same records: lock status, trip events and the command history.

Buying the lock hardware

Smart Lock is a solution on the ENTEK.AI IoT platform. The locks themselves and their installation are bought separately: request quotes for lock hardware and installation from verified suppliers through an RFQ and compare them. The price of the locks comes from the suppliers' quotes.

Who it is for

Fuel distributors, logistics companies and any business shipping valuable or regulated goods in containers, tankers or trailers that needs to show the load stayed locked the whole way.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know who opened the container on the way?
Open the lock's events and filter for unlocked, tamper or unauthorized attempts. Each remote command, such as unlock main lock with password, is saved with the user who ran it and the time. A driver can unlock at a stop only if the trip allows it and the platform confirms the driver is assigned to the trip and is at that stop.
Cargo goes missing between stops. How do I find where it happened?
Plan the delivery as a trip with geofenced stops. The platform records arrival and departure times from GPS, logs geofence exit and entry events, and keeps a trip audit log with a timestamp for every event. A lock opened or tampered with outside an approved stop raises an alert, so the gap between two stops becomes a time and a place.
Can the driver open the container in the middle of the trip?
When you plan the trip, you decide whether the driver may unlock at all. If you allow it, the unlock request is approved only when the driver is assigned to the trip, is inside the stop zone and has not already used the one unlock for that stop. A lock opened or tampered with outside an approved stop raises an alert to your team.
How will I hear if someone tampers with the lock?
Alert rules are checked every 30 seconds and messages go out every minute, by email, SMS or WhatsApp, in English or Arabic. You choose the rules and the recipients for each lock.
Is this an electronic cargo seal or a GPS smart padlock, and do you sell the lock?
Smart Lock is an electronic lock on the container that reports locked, unlocked, tampered or offline, with its GPS position. The monitoring is a solution on the ENTEK.AI IoT platform. For the lock hardware and installation, you request quotes from verified suppliers through an RFQ, so the price comes from their quotes.
Can I prove the delivery to my customer?
Yes. Each stop gets GPS arrival and departure times and asks for live-camera photos that a supervisor reviews; a stop left without a photo is logged. The trip audit log keeps every event, and reports export as PDF, Excel or CSV.
